Engaged!
I'm sure you've all heard by now...last Saturday Simon asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes!
It was such a fun day. It started on Friday night with instructions for the next morning left at my doorstep in the form of a old wax sealed scroll. The journey started at 9am and took us up the Mount, then to various places around Tauranga with several close friends playing their part too (costumes and all) and some great surprises.
Just after midday we boarded a yacht at Sulphur Point and cruised around the harbour and out the entrance. It was pretty good weather and so nice to sit on the front of the boat and take in the beautiful country we live in. We were then dropped off on Matakana Island on a dingy, where I had to find and dig up some treasure (X marked the spot on a map). In the treasure box was a toy ring, which once found was followed by a proposal :-)
We picnicked on Matakana before Simon helped sail back to Tauranga, and swapped the plastic ring for a real one (it's very pretty). Here are some pics of the sailing part of the day. Will keep you all in the loop regarding future plans, but at the moment we're hoping for Saturday 28th January (Anniversary weekend) which also dovetails nicely with Opa's 90th birthday. Will hopefully be a weekend of many great celebrations!

The Ardennes
For those of you who aren't on Facebook- here's some pics of Toby and I during last weekend in the Ardennes, in Belgium. Also including some shots of the bump- now 31 weeks- only 9 weeks to go! Yikes! The Ardennes is in the French speaking part of Belgium- it was a nice little trip to get out of Amsterdam and we even had some sunshine. June and July here in Holland have been rather rainy. I'm sure it's going to get really hot though in a month- right when it becomes a bit uncomfortable for me!

Memorial Mass for Oma
On Tuesday 31st May a Memorial Mass was held at St Mary's in Tauranga. Memorial Masses are celebrated every six months and Opa received an invitation.
During the service people are given opportunity to light a candle for friends and family who have died. Oma, amoungst others was specifically remembered with a tall white named candle and her name was read out.

Opa lit Oma's candle and myself (Heidi) and Gracie lit a candle for Mary and put it next to hers. Jos and Pauline were also there. The candle lighting was a really nice way to pause and remember.
Opa has taken the candle home and lights it often, it is on the shelf next to Oma's ashes and is burned to about halfway now
