Set on the Kapiti Coast, Second hand Wedding follows the fortunes of the Rose family. Jill Rose is a veteran bargain hunter whose weekends are spent scouring local garage sales. Brian Rose prefers to spend his leisure time working on a vintage car in his garage. Happily married for many years, they are looking forward to seeing their only daughter Cheryl follow in their footsteps and walk down the aisle with her long time boyfriend Stew.
Cheryl is not so keen on having Mum and Dad involved in the wedding plans though, afraid that her big day will end up being another bargain basement affair. Keeping her plans a secret proves to be more difficult than she anticipates and has far reaching consequences.
Funny, real and full of wonderfully engaging characters, Second Hand Wedding is a charming and quirky film and one I would recommend highly to everyone who has ever felt embarrassed by their parents.
