About Mary

Bert asked me to put this post up for those further afield, wondering how Mary is.

I visited Mary yesterday at Althorp Village, a retirement home with attached private hospital.
She spent the maximum time of two weeks at the hospice but needs 24 hour nursing and so has been moved to Althrop. Christine is staying with her 24/7, she gets breaks when Roger and other family members come to sit with Mary for a few hours.
Mary has requested that no more treatment be given to prolong her life. She has a morphine pump and is comfortable, she is in the best place to have her pain managed.
Mary was very tired when I was there but she knew who I was and spoke to me briefly. I fed her a few pieces of watermelon and she still enjoys her ginger beer. Christine said that she still has her sense of humour. Bill and Fonsa had visited earlier in the day.
How long she will last like this is unknown. She has already shown just how strong she is so what will be will be.
